Providing high-quality, highly-ranked showpigs to Jasper County, the rest of Illinois, Indiana, and beyond.
Hey there, I'm Adam Helregel - Co-Owner/Operator of Helregel Family Genetics, Inc. (HFGI). Here at HFGI, we are a family-owned and family-first swine and grain farm, growing ~1,400 acres of crops that support ~7,000 market hogs and prized showpigs annually. We are located in the Ste. Marie/West Liberty area of Jasper County, IL.
HFGI was founded in 1950 by my grandfather, Lawrence Helregel. He started with 50 acres of corn and soybeans and 75 hogs. In 1980, my father, Dave Helregel, took over as lead of HFGI. His vision and hard work were instrumental in growing the farm to ~1,000 acres of crops and ~4,000 market hogs annually. As I grew up, I worked on the farm with my dad and continued to do so during my college years on the weekends.
I officially joined the farm as Co-Owner after my graduation from University of Illinois in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. I-L-L! Previously, I attended Lake Land College, where I was part of the Livestock Judging Team. Since becoming co-owner of our family farm, I have helped to increase our grain farming capacity to ~1,400 acres and increase our market hog output to ~7,000 annually, as well as launch and oversee our Showpig Breeding Program.
Showpigs are my passion, so I care about which boars we choose to help create the quality of pigs we produce. Our extensive experience on the showmanship side and the breeding side matters when it comes to educating the next generation. I am looking forward to helping your family select a quality showpig that can be shown not only locally but compete at higher levels, as well.
